Must see attractions in Llandudno

So you’re planning to stay in one of the seafront hotels in Llandudno? Home to one of the best beaches in North Wales, Llandudno has plenty to see and do, including a vast array of independent shops and fabulous restaurants. Along the way check out some of the must-see local attractions Llandudno has to offer.

Llandudno Pier

Llandudno 1

Take a walk along the longest pier in Wales, and experience a world of fun with the family, and pop into the amusement arcades where you’ll hopefully be lucky enough to nab a cuddly toy or two. If the amusements don’t tickle your fancy then pop along and grab a classic seaside favorite like a hot donut or maybe some chunky chips, and enjoy the view from the sea. Make sure you keep an eye on those pesky seagulls though!

The Great Orme

Discover the legends of the Great Orme, a popular limestone headland on the North Wales coast, with spectacular views over Llandudno. Take a drive up to the top and you will find a small shop, museum, and even a crazy golf course to keep the kids (and adults) entertained. You may even spot one of the iconic Great Orme Goats wandering around. On your way up to the Great Orme make sure you stop off to the little church which overlooks the sea. Fancy a walk? Take one of the many walking paths including, the Great Orme Nature Trail which circles around the headland allowing you to take in that clean crisp sea air.

Great Orme Tramway

Llandudno 2

This traditional Victorian tramway has been delighting visitors since 1902. Starting at Victoria Station, you will be transported through the winding roads of the Great Orme. Climb aboard this powerful funicular and you will experience the history of Victorian engineering before taking in the breathtaking views which can be as far as the Isle of Man, Blackpool, and even the Lake District!

Cable Car

Running over 1 mile over the Great Orme, the Great Orme Cable Cars were opened in 1969 and have been in operation ever since. Enjoy a ride from the beautiful gardens of Happy Valley to the summit whilst taking in the panoramic views of the Little Orme, the Conwy Estuary, and over the Irish Sea. You won’t miss the cars gliding through the sky in bright shades of red, yellow, orange, and blue, a great colorful addition to Llandudno’s landscape. Whilst at the summit, where the cable car’s leisurely journey ends, pop into the Great Orme County Park Visit Centre and enjoy interactive and visual exhibits on the history, geology, and wildlife the Great Orme has to offer.

Happy Valley Gardens

Llandudno 3

These well-laid out, sloping gardens include plenty of different flowers, shrubs, birds, and even a goat (if you’re lucky). Rest your legs on one of the many benches scattered around or even take a picnic and lay on the grass in the midday sun. Providing perfect views across Llandudno bay and the town itself, you can really appreciate the beauty of this Victorian town. Brilliant for children and older visitors, these gardens are perfect for lazing around and enjoying the sights and sounds whilst overlooking Llandudno Pier.
